2011 "The Archimage" Red Blend 750ml

2011 "The Archimage" Red Blend 750ml
2011 "The Archimage" Red Blend 750ml

The 2011 Archimage is a blend of 54% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Franc and was aged for 23 months in 34% new French oak and 66% seasoned French oak barrels. The cool vintage allowed us to hang our grapes 2-3 weeks later than “normal”, allowing for optimal flavor and tannin development. This gorgeous “homage” to the Right bank blends of Bordeaux is full of pencil lead, red cherries, raspberries, and cedar, and finishes with fine grained tannins and vibrant acidity. We feel this wine will provide great drinking enjoyment over the next 10-15 years, but likely more. Only 675 cases of this wine were produced.

The Wine Advocate Issue #213 Review:

2011 Archimage 91pts

A blend of almost equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2011 Archimage comes from vineyards in Red Mountain and Walla Walla. Aged 23 months in 34% new French oak, it offers fabulous complexity with notions of blueberry, plum, smoked peat, lead pencil shavings and spice emerging from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, balanced, with excellent mid-palate depth and ripe tannin, it’s a gorgeous effort to drink over the coming 8-10 years.
