2023 "The Archimage" Reserve Bordeaux Blend 750mL - NEW RELEASE!

The 2023 Archimage “Reserve” Bordeaux-blend is a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot, primarily from our Estate “Binaural Block” at Blue Mtn. Vineyard in Walla Walla and our Estate Block on Red Mtn. Aged for 20 months in 33% new French oak, this wine is densely packed and loaded with flavors of chocolate covered cherries, raspberries, and blueberries, and has herbal and earthy undertones of green peppercorns, tea leaves, fresh tilled soil and hay. The wine is richly structured and has well-integrated tannins along with fresh acidity. Our Archimage is always a cellar candidate and should have a 15-20 year life span, but don’t be afraid to open and decant this while young, as you’ll be richly rewarded by this gorgeous Bordeaux-blend. The 2023 Sleight of Hand The Archimage Red Wine from the Columbia Valley opens with expressive aromas of mountain raspberry, black plum, and dried lavender. Comprising equal 50% shares of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, this bottling shows a harmonious synthesis of both varieties, coating the palate with fine-grained, velvety tannins and flavors of tart red currant and shaved dark chocolate. Notes of damp forest floor, sweet tobacco leaf, and crushed gravel emerge on the mid-palate, imparting savory complexity that balances the lushness of the fruit. A bright vein of acidity provides lift, carrying the wine through a structured, expansive finish that promises rewarding cellaring through the next 8-10 years.
